Start with one activity, one unit, one rate
Pick a high-impact activity, define a unit of output, and track expected versus actual rate daily. Avoid mixing too many variables in early rollout.
Core formulas
- Labour productivity: installed quantity / crew-hours
- Equipment productivity: installed quantity / equipment-hours
- Unit cost: total direct cost / installed quantity
Daily capture checklist
- Number of workers and hours by role
- Equipment runtime and idle time
- Material quantities consumed
- Production quantity completed
- Weather and constraints notes
Interpretation rules
One bad day is noise. Three consecutive days below planned rate is a trend. Investigate crew composition, method, access constraints, and material flow.
Implementation tip
If foremen need more than a few minutes to submit data, measurement quality drops.
Simplicity drives consistency.
