How does the Automatic Cost-to-Complete Preview work?

Automatic Cost-to-Complete Preview

This is a read-only, provisional forecast. Open Commitments are applied once at project total.

  1. In Weekly Control, select the project and review Forecast readiness.
  2. Follow missing-data actions: verify the linked Activity Code, planned quantities and units, Planned Man-Hours per Unit, field hours, installed production and posted Actual Cost.
  3. Read the advancement basis. Installed versus planned quantities are preferred; reported progress is a labelled fallback.
  4. With no usable progress or less than 10%, a temporary baseline may show unspent budget. When the entire category is early, complete category Actual Cost is deducted once, floored at zero.
  5. At 10% or more, including 100%, Physical progress exists without posted Actual Cost blocks a trusted full projection. Reconcile cost postings and Activity Code linkage first.

TCC forecasts activities before category rollup so efficient work cannot hide another activity’s overrun. Open Commitments are deducted once at project total to derive Remaining Uncommitted Cost. A purchase is not consumption.

Budget, Actual Cost and labelled temporary/partial results can remain visible while full derived results are unavailable. An em dash is not zero. This preview is Read-only · Provisional: it does not post costs or replace the weekly manual snapshot.
