Qualify the WO, then check its forecast
- Open Admin → Project Admin, select the project, then Work Orders → Edit on the WO.
- Set Forecast impact: choose Cost variation for a change to the current budget and enter the signed amount (+ extra cost / − saving). Choose Already included in budget when the current budget already covers this cost. Estimated Cost alone does not qualify the WO.
- Set PO required separately: Yes for purchasing follow-up, or No with a reason. See PO follow-up.
- Click Save. An open WO must also be approved using Approve in the list by an authorized reviewer. Editing the forecast does not approve it.
- Open Earned Value → Refresh. In Adjusted-budget forecast — WOs, check the WO, variation and Applied: Yes. Use PDF to export the forecast.
Example
Budget 10,000 + approved variation 3,900 gives EAC 13,900, assuming actual cost plus open PO commitments does not exceed 13,900. With actual cost 0, remaining cost is also 13,900. Linking the PO does not add 3,900 again. Budget and actual cost stay unchanged.
This is a provisional budget-based forecast, not a saved weekly forecast. When the current budget incorporates the variation, change the WO to Already included in budget and save to avoid counting it twice.
